I would like to suggest to people on campus or coming through here that they visit the exhibition at the Mead Gallery in the Arts Centre called “Unpopular Culture”. There is some fantastic art on display there, including painting and sculpture, apparently a touring exhibition selected from the Hayward Gallerry by Grayson Perry. I went by yesterday and was amazed at the high quality art, with no one else in the whole gallery apart from me and the stewards. Beats going to London!
I wouldn’t usually post about such things but I was talking to a colleague who has been teaching at Warwick for 10 years and she hadn’t even heard about the Mead Gallery, let alone visited it. So many opportunities lost, as it is a great little gem, and I have seen many interesting eye-opening exhibitions there over the years, always free.
