I may as well start this blog by recording my experience with installing UNE on my EEEpc. It all seems fine now, after some stress yesterday with the inability to get wireless connection to work.
So the problem with wireless was that there was no icon or no automatic search for available neworks. So I finally entered the name of my network in the network connection widget and that has worked fine. Now I have to test how this works in practice – trying to find a network of which I don’t know the name.
Other issues include persistently asking for password at login. I solved this by removing .gnome2/keyring/login.keyring (or something) and once it tried to make me enter a new passowrd, just hitting Enter with a blank password. Seems to be working.
A problem at loading and installing time was that I had a sdhc card installed and it seems that was being used in ann attempt for booting. Removing the SDHC solved the trick.
Now I need to decide if I want /home to go on SDHC, in an atempt to reduce RW cycles on main SSD. Opinion seems open on this.
Also some thinking on which applications to use. Removed games, am using Thunderird instead of Evolution.
